Apple TV+ Now Available on Android Phones to Expand Subscriber Base
Apple is expanding its TV+ service to Android phones for the first time, hoping to attract more streaming subscribers. The Apple TV+ app is now available on the Google Play Store as a free download. Previously, this service was only for Apple devices and a few third-party TV platforms like Roku. Apple rarely offers services on Google’s Android, its biggest smartphone software competitor, preferring to keep customers within its own ecosystem. This move shows that Apple is keen to make Apple TV+ more popular and compete with other streaming services like Netflix and Disney+. Despite some successful shows like Severance and Ted Lasso, Apple TV+ still has fewer viewers compared to other platforms. The service, launched at $4.99 per month, now costs $9.99 per month. Apple has never shared subscriber or revenue figures. Earlier last year, reports indicated that Apple was working on an Android app for TV+.
