New camera angles in Twins streaming broadcasts: Up close to the game

shared with The Athletic on Monday, will enhance fans’ viewing experience and help educate them. The team is excited to bring fans closer to the game with these new camera angles. The wide-angle view will give fans a different perspective on game action, while the up-close angle will capture all the big moments in detail.

One of the new additions to the broadcast is a stabilized wire camera that runs from left field to home plate, providing a field-wide view of the game. There will also be a remote camera that operators can use to show key moments up close. According to Twins.TV executive producer Trevor Fleck, these new technologies will really connect fans with the teams and players. The team is offering blackout-free baseball on Twins.TV for viewers in Twins Territory for $99.99 for the season or $19.99 per month. Season-ticket holders can enjoy discounts, and early subscribers can receive 50 percent off tickets for April and May home games.

In an effort to reach more fans, the Twins are also working on an over-the-air package with local television stations to broadcast a dozen free games. This will increase viewership in Twins Territory from 1.3 million households to 4.4 million households. The club is focused on enhancing the game production itself, with new camera angles and improved access for fans. The left-field wire cam will provide a unique view of the game, showing how defenders move, players position themselves, and base runners react. This will create more teaching moments for the analysts and offer fans a new perspective on the game.

The remote handheld camera will allow operators to move throughout the ballpark, capturing moments on the field like never before. The Twins are also considering using a drone camera and hosting broadcasts without play-by-play commentary. With the launch of Twins.TV, the team will have access to minor-league baseball highlights and MLB programming during rain delays. The team’s partnership changes will lead to differences in pregame and postgame shows, with shorter shows on the road but continued coverage at Target Field.

While the new product goes live on Tuesday, Twins.TV won’t debut until the exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox on March 16. This will be one of five free games broadcast this spring, giving fans a taste of what’s to come for the 2025 season.
