It was revealed about a month ago that Disney+ gave the green light to this limited series, which will be directed by Linwood Boomer, with early production already underway.
According to Muniz, the idea of a reboot has been in the works for about 10 years, and it’s finally becoming a reality. Chemistry reads have already begun for new characters that will be joining the show, bringing back that classic Malcolm in the Middle vibe. The new series is being produced by 20th Television and New Regency, with Linwood Boomer returning as the writer and executive producer. Bryan Cranston, Tracy Katsky, Gail Berman, and the team at New Regency are on board as executive producers. Ken Kwapis will direct all four episodes and serve as an executive producer as well.
