WarnerMedia Launches $100 Million Relief Fund for Employees
WarnerMedia is stepping up to the plate with a massive $100 million fund to support workers impacted by the production shutdown, according to CEO John Stankey. This funding is intended to assist those involved in WarnerMedia projects, spanning Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, and HBO.
Despite the challenges posed by the current situation, Stankey remains optimistic about the scheduled launch of HBO Max in May. He highlighted the remarkable adaptability of their technology teams, who have swiftly adjusted to new remote work conditions. The marketing team has also been hard at work revising their strategies to creatively engage potential subscribers.
Interestingly, viewing numbers are on the rise as more people are staying home. CNN’s audience in the US has surged by 132% during Total Day and an impressive 167% during primetime since March 9. On digital platforms, they are reaching over 50 million unique visitors daily, more than double their 2019 average. HBO is also experiencing a surge in viewership across all platforms and genres, reflecting the increased time spent at home.
It’s reassuring to see companies like WarnerMedia taking proactive steps to support their workforce during these uncertain times while also maintaining their commitment to delivering quality content.
