Center Hill Football Coach Alan Peacock Resigns After 14 Years

Center Hill football coach Alan Peacock has announced his resignation after an impressive 14-year tenure with the program. In a heartfelt social media post, Peacock shared that he and his wife are planning to move closer to his sister-in-law, who is currently battling cancer.

“After 14 incredible years as your head football coach, I have made the very difficult decision to step away from this role,” Peacock expressed. “Coaching at Center Hill has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. To my players—past and present—you are the heart of this program, and I am so proud of the men you are becoming.”

While Peacock may be stepping away, his bond with Center Hill will always hold a special place in his heart. He added, “I look forward to seeing the program continue to thrive and will always be cheering for the Mustangs.”

Peacock has been a fixture at Center Hill since 2011, amassing a 60-98 overall record and a 1-3 playoff record. The team concluded its most recent season with a 5-5 record in MHSAA Class 6A. Notably, Center Hill secured a playoff victory in 2011 with a 22-18 triumph over Provine in Class 5A, claiming its first and only district title that same season.

As Peacock embarks on a new chapter, Center Hill will undoubtedly feel his absence but will also carry on, fueled by his legacy. Associated Press reports that MHSAA has announced the addition of girls’ flag football as a varsity sport starting in the spring of 2025. Additionally, other teams and athletes across Mississippi high school sports continue to make headlines and leave their mark on the community.
