Last Leaf Wins Senor Buscador After Topping OBS Winter Mixed Sale
At the recent Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Winter Mixed Sale, stakes winner Last Leaf was the star of the show, fetching a final bid of $140,000 from buyer Joey Peacock. This purchase was part of Peacock’s ongoing support for his G1 Saudi Cup champion, Senor Buscador, who will soon begin his stud career at Lane’s End.
Last Leaf’s impressive track record, with five stakes wins and earnings over $600,000, caught Peacock’s attention. She previously passed through the ring at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale with no sale, but this time, she found her new home with Peacock’s Senor’s Senoritas.
Peacock, relying on advice from agent Marette Farrell, has been actively acquiring mares to support Senor Buscador in his new role as a stallion. Last Leaf now joins a group of 13 mares purchased by Peacock in anticipation of Buscador’s breeding season. Peacock has set his criteria for selecting mares, looking for those with successful racing careers and early wins.
Alongside Last Leaf, Peacock has acquired a variety of mares, some in foal, to ensure a good start for Buscador’s breeding program. While most foals will be sold, Peacock plans to retain some for racing, entrusting trainer Todd Fincher with their development. Fincher already has three of Buscador’s siblings in training, and Peacock is hopeful for their success on the track.
Senor Buscador’s strong lineage and the support system Peacock is building around him are setting the stage for a promising future as a sire. Peacock’s confidence in Buscador’s potential is evident, and he looks forward to seeing how this new chapter in the champion’s career unfolds.
