This week has been heart-wrenching as we’ve watched the devastating disaster unfold on our screens, sending our thoughts and prayers to all those affected. Meanwhile, here in Texas, we’ve had a taste of winter weather, giving me the opportunity to check out some of the new releases that streaming services have unleashed upon us.

First up is “Get Away,” now streaming on Shudder. This comedy by Nick Frost about a family vacation gone wrong has caught my eye, thanks to my love for Nick Frost and the fantastic trailer.

“American Primeval” is a historical series with all five episodes now on Netflix. Set in the 1857 Utah Territory, it follows a married woman on a dangerous journey to reunite with her husband. With intense scenes and a bloody Old West vibe, this series promises an action-packed adventure.

Next, “On Call” is available on Prime Video, with Dick Wolf at the helm. This series about police in Long Beach, California, brings a fresh perspective with its short, fast-paced episodes, making it feel like a scripted version of “Cops.” While it may not be a top priority for me, the zippy pace keeps things interesting.

“The Pitt” on Max stars Noah Wyle in a medical drama set in an emergency room in Pittsburgh. With a focus on the chaos and drama of hospital life, this series promises a mix of medical gore, humor, and intensity that fans of medical dramas will appreciate. The promise of a new episode every Thursday gives viewers a reason to come back for more.

Lastly, “Goosebumps: The Vanishing” is now streaming on Disney Plus. This series, perfect for families who enjoy a scare together, is particularly appealing to Tweens, offering a spooky adventure for young horror fans.

If you’re seeking out new and diverse independent and international genres, these streaming options offer a mix of thrills, suspense, and humor to keep you entertained. So grab your popcorn and start streaming!
