The Wallpaper* team has been keeping busy at the start of the year. The annual Wallpaper* Design Awards are in full swing, celebrating the best in design, interiors, fashion, beauty, travel, architecture, art, and watches. After lots of preparation, it’s finally here, allowing us all to take a deep breath.

In their rare moments of downtime, here’s how the editors have been spending the first days of January:

A Colourful Pop-Up:
Fashion Features Editor, Jack Moss, enjoyed immersing himself in the Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up on London’s Brewer Street. Inspired by Tokyo’s modular hotels, this cartoon wonderland is filled with fluffy flower cushions, a vending machine, and a café with branded treats. Open until February 9, it’s a must-visit for fans of Murakami’s iconic collaborations with the fashion house.

A Knightsbridge Italian:
The team visited the recently refurbished Sale e Pepe, a Knightsbridge restaurant that first opened its doors in 1974. Expecting sexy 70s glamour and authentic Italian dishes, they were not disappointed. Classics like Beef Carpaccio, Salt-Baked Sea Bass, and Pacheri Pasta with Vodka Tomato sauce made for a delicious dining experience. With so many tempting options on the menu, they can’t wait to return to try more.

A Glass of Guilt-Free Fizz:
For those looking to start the year off cleaner, Entertainment Director, Melina Keays, suggests LA Brewery’s sparkling English white rose, a non-alcoholic blend of Assam and kombucha. Refreshing and good for your gut, it’s the perfect guilt-free treat to lift the January blues.

Illustrations of the Underground:
Ben Jomo’s illustrations at Boxpark caught the eye of Senior Designer, Gabriel Annouka. His work delves into underground fashion, queer nightlife, and the vibrant characters that inhabit those worlds. Each stroke exudes freedom of expression, with faces stretching and colors clashing, capturing the energy of a dance floor in digital form.

A Pawfect Day Out:
Digital Content Director, Charlotte Gunn, recommends a trip to ADI Design M for a pawfect day out. Explore their unique offerings and give your pet a treat they won’t forget.

That’s what the Wallpaper* editors have been up to this week—keeping busy with fashion, food, and film adventures. Exciting times ahead as they continue to explore the world of design and creativity.
