IndyCar streaming coverage impacted by Venu Sports shutdown

IndyCar fans, there’s some news about streaming coverage that you may want to know. Venu Sports, a streaming service set to offer IndyCar Series content, is no longer happening. ESPN, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery decided to shut down the service before it even launched. This means that IndyCar viewers won’t have this new streaming option but will have to rely on traditional cable or streaming TV services like Hulu or YouTube TV to catch their favorite races on TV.

What led to this decision? A statement from all three companies mentioned that they considered the ever-changing sports landscape and decided to focus on their existing products and distribution channels instead. This move also followed a legal battle with FuboTV, which caused a delay in Venu Sports’s launch.

When Venu Sports was still in the works, it was going to cost $42.99 per month and include various sports networks such as ESPN, Fox, and ABC, along with a bundle option for Disney+, Hulu, and Max. While Fox will air all 17 rounds of the IndyCar championship for free, some sessions, like the Indianapolis 500, might require a cable or streaming subscription. The details of which races will be shown on Fox Sports 1 or Fox Sports 2 are still to be determined.

So, for now, IndyCar fans may have to stick with their traditional TV setups to catch all the racing action. Stay tuned for more updates on how you can watch the upcoming season of IndyCar!
