Top Theatre Streaming Shows This Weekend
Even though live theater and dance are back in action, we’re still keeping an eye out for great performances you can watch from the comfort of your couch. Here are our top picks to stream this weekend, from Friday, January 10 to Sunday, January 12, either for free or at a low cost.
First up, on Friday, January 10 at 9:45 p.m. ET, you can catch Tony-nominated jazz singer Ann Hampton Callaway in “The Best of Ann Hampton Callaway” live from 54 Below. She’ll be performing some of her greatest hits from shows like The Streisand Songbook and Ann Hampton Callaway Sings the ‘70s, accompanied by Grammy winner Billy Stritch.
Then, on Saturday, January 11 at 7 p.m. ET, the Green Room 42 presents John Hill in “Peanut Blvd.” John, a Broadway veteran and cohost of Andy Cohen Live!, will be delivering a fun comedy cabaret in tribute to Peanut the Squirrel, with special guest Natalie Joy Johnson.
If you’re in the mood for dance, check out the Social Tango Project from Jacob’s Pillow. This performance, available to stream for free until Friday, January 24, captures the essence of tango with top-notch dancers and live music.
For drama fans, the National Theatre at Home offers “Death of England: The Plays” to stream for just $10. This trilogy explores 21st-century British identity through the experiences of two friends, Michael and Delroy. Each play in the series is available for individual rental with captions provided.
And finally, you can enjoy Imelda Staunton’s captivating performance in “Gypsy” for free.
