Taking Action on Resolutions in the Community
It’s been just over a week – how are those resolutions going? A bit early to tell, I know, but stay focused! I’m trying too, but anyway, let’s get to the news.
I have to say, this time slot always presents a challenge. It’s amazing how much news comes in from Halloween to New Year’s, and then it simply drops off. Until… we find ourselves in the early stages of awards season, and for many fans, it all culminates with the Oscar telecast on Sunday, March 2, 2025. A recent post on the phone mentioned that the short lists in 10 Oscar award categories have been announced. Let the hype begin!
In Nashville, TN, a few years back, I had the pleasure of attending the STORY Conference in “Music City U.S.A.” and meeting legendary Disney animator Floyd Norman. Just posted on social media: “Life is about to get animated on HBO max. The award-winning documentary Floyd Norman: An Animated Life arrives on January 1, 2025. At 89 years old, see how Disney Legend Floyd Norman, the first African-American animator at Disney, continues to impact animation and stir up ‘trouble’ after the company forced him to retire at age 65. An Animated Life is a love story about animation, family, and a journey of perseverance in a world figuring out corporate ageism.”
In Bella Vista, AR, anticipating a milestone year for the column is certainly putting my creativity into overdrive. I have a number of new directions and features in the works, so please stay tuned to the Democrat for more updates.
