Discovery+ price hike: What you need to know

Get ready, Discovery+ subscribers! It’s that time again—prices are on the rise for both the ad-free and ad-supported plans. The ad-free version of Discovery+ will now be $9.99 a month, up from $8.99, while the ad-supported plan will be $5.99 a month, up a dollar as well.

New subscribers will see these prices immediately, while existing subscribers may notice the change on their next bill after February 7th. This is the first price increase for Discovery+ since October 2023, when the ad-free tier went up by $2 to $6.99 a month.

It’s important to note that while U.S. users didn’t see a price hike in the ad-supported plan last year, Canadian users did experience a $1 CAD/month increase. The lineup of Discovery+ shows is quite popular, including favorites like Chopped, Ghost Adventures, and Home Town.

Discovery+ also had discussions about merging with Max (formerly known as HBO Max), but ultimately remained a standalone option, catering to those looking for a budget-friendly streaming service. Max, on the other hand, saw its own price increases last year, with the standard ad-free tier at $16.99 a month and the Ultimate plan at $20.99 a month.

So, if you’re a Discovery+ fan, be prepared for a little extra on your bill as you continue to enjoy your favorite shows.
