If you’re a fan of action-packed movies like John Wick or The Raid, you won’t want to miss this new addition to Prime Video. 2024 was a stellar year for action movie enthusiasts, with hits like Civil War, The Fall Guy, Furiosa, Land of Bad, Monkey Man, and Rebel Ridge hitting the screens. But one film that stands out among them all is “Kill,” a thrilling action movie from India that made its way to Prime Video this weekend after a quiet cinema release last July.

“Kill” follows the story of Amrit, an army commando played by Lakshya, who discovers that his true love Tulika, portrayed by Tanya Maniktala, has been forced into an arranged marriage against her wishes. Determined to save her, Amrit boards a train bound for New Delhi to rescue her. However, things take a violent turn when a gang of deadly bandits, led by the ruthless Fani played by Raghav Juyal, starts terrorizing the train’s passengers. Amrit must fight back to protect Tulika, her family, and everyone else on the train.

The film kicks off like a standard action flick, similar to Die Hard on a train. But a jaw-dropping moment halfway through sets it apart and takes the action to a whole new level. With the title card drop marking a pivotal scene, the violence escalates as Amrit goes on a rampage to take down Fani and his gang.

Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat makes excellent use of the tight spaces within the train carriages, creating a sense of intense, close-quarter combat that feels brutal and realistic. Weapons are not limited to guns and knives; everything from blankets to chains, fire extinguishers, toilets, and lighters are cleverly turned into destructive tools. Apart from the intense action, “Kill” delves into deeper themes about the consequences of violence, reflecting on the age-old adage, “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”

A US remake of “Kill” is already in the works, produced by Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick. It remains to be seen if the remake can match the intensity and impact of the original Indian film. For viewers in Ireland and the UK, “Kill” is now available to stream on Prime Video. So get ready for a gripping, action-packed ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
