In big news today, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV are joining forces as a result of a lawsuit filed by Fubo against Disney over Hulu + Live TV’s practices. This merge creates a single business entity, with Disney owning 70% of Fubo and the existing management team of Fubo leading the new company.

Together, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV boast a combined subscriber base of 6.2 million, quickly catching up to YouTube TV’s 8 million subscribers as of early 2024. While both services will initially operate separately, there are hints that a full merger may be on the horizon as Disney looks to integrate Hulu into Disney+.

Hulu + Live TV will remain available through its existing app and as part of the bundle with Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. On the other hand, Fubo will stick to its app, streaming over 55,000 live sporting events yearly. This partnership also brings a range of sports and broadcast content to Fubo, including ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and more, alongside a new “Sports & Broadcast” service.

In the world of streaming entertainment, YouTube TV has also made some waves by increasing its price to $82.99 starting January 2025, introducing a 24/7 ‘Enjoy the zen’ channel, and launching a resizable PiP-style mini player for Android users.
