“Holes Disney+ Series in Development: Latest Updates and News”
Exciting news for fans of the book “Holes” by Louis Sachar! Disney is working on a new series based on the beloved story, set to debut on Disney+. The show has already been given the green light for a pilot episode.
In this modern take on the classic tale, a teenage girl finds herself at a detention camp where the head honcho, known as the Warden, makes the campers dig holes for a mysterious purpose. Alina Mankin is spearheading the project as the writer and executive producer, with Liz Phang onboard as the showrunner and executive producer. The talented Drew Goddard will also serve as an executive producer, along with Sarah Esberg.
Walden Media, the company behind the original “Holes” film, is producing the pilot, with Mike Medavoy and Shamrock on board as executive producers. Andrea Massaro of Goddard Textiles and 20th Television are also involved in bringing this new adaptation to life on the small screen.
For those who may not remember, Disney released a film adaptation of “Holes” back in 2003. The movie featured a star-studded cast including Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, and a young Shia LaBeouf. It was a hit, earning over $71 million at the box office.
