In some exciting news, The Walt Disney Company is teaming up with FuboTV to create a new virtual multichannel video programming distributor, or MVPD, company. Disney will have a 70% ownership stake in Fubo, and the current Fubo leadership, including CEO David Gandler, will continue to run the show. Together, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV boast over 6.2 million subscribers in North America, making them the second-largest online pay-TV company in the region, right behind YouTube TV, as reported by Reuters. But don’t worry, even though they’re joining forces, Fubo and Hulu + Live TV will remain as separate services for consumers to enjoy.

This collaboration means big things for the future of streaming entertainment. The combined company will have the support of Disney, allowing them to focus on growth and profitability. By working together, they plan to offer more flexible programming options that cater to different audiences, along with innovative sales and marketing strategies. This move will also bring a wider variety of programming choices to viewers. Both Fubo and Hulu + Live TV let customers stream live broadcast and cable networks on various devices like TVs, phones, and tablets. Plus, Disney will partner with Fubo to create a new sports and broadcast service that includes popular networks like ABC, ESPN, and ESPN+.

As part of this exciting development, Fubo has settled all legal matters with Disney and ESPN related to Venu Sports, a sports streaming platform project with ESPN, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery. There were previous lawsuits surrounding this project, but everything has been resolved through a cash settlement. In fact, Disney has even committed to providing a term loan to Fubo in 2026 to support their growth. And in case the deal falls through due to regulatory issues, Fubo will receive a termination fee as well.

This collaboration between Fubo and Disney is a win-win for everyone involved, according to David Gandler, Fubo’s CEO. It’s all about delivering the best choices and value to consumers, shareholders, and the streaming industry as a whole. Justin Warbrooke, from The Walt Disney Company, is also optimistic about the partnership, believing it will lead to even better offerings for subscribers. So get ready to see some exciting developments in the world of streaming entertainment as Fubo and Disney team up to bring you more choices and flexibility.
