Disney+ Hotstar Removes Anime Titles: Dr. Stone, Heavenly Delusion, Summer Time Rendering
Disney+ Hotstar has recently removed several anime titles, including Dr. Stone, Heavenly Delusion, Summer Time Rendering, Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall, Black Clover, and Dance Dance Danseur. Although the company has not provided a statement on the removal, it’s important to note that these titles are no longer available on the platform.
On a positive note, Netflix has added Dr. Stone to its library in India back in November 2021. Additionally, Crunchyroll will be streaming the fourth and final season of the Dr. Stone anime, titled Dr. Stone: Science Future, starting on January 9. Netflix will also be offering this season in India, simultaneous to its release in Japan.
Another popular title, Black Clover, was previously available on Disney+ Hotstar in India beyond the first season. However, the recent removal means that fans will have to look elsewhere to watch the series. Similarly, Dance Dance Danseur is no longer accessible on the platform.
In terms of the streaming landscape in India, there are some changes on the horizon. Reliance Industries Limited and The Walt Disney Company are set to merge their media assets, which will bring together JioCinema with Disney+ Hotstar. This merger comes after Disney+ Hotstar reached over 50 million paid subscribers in India in May 2022.
It’s worth noting that Disney+ Hotstar has been a key player in the anime streaming scene in India, offering exclusive titles such as Heavenly Delusion and simulcasting shows like Tatami Time Machine Blues. As the platform undergoes changes and transitions, it will be interesting to see how it continues to shape the anime streaming landscape in the country.
