Jayden Bartels and Sam McCarthy Discuss ‘Goosebumps: The Vanishing’

Rejoice “Goosebumps” fans, the show is back for a second season on Disney+ and it’s bringing a brand-new spooky tale to our screens. Titled “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” this season follows Cece (played by Jayden Bartels) and Devin (played by Sam McCarthy), twins who spend the summer with their father, portrayed by David Schwimmer. Their adventure begins when they get wrapped up in the mystery of four teenagers who disappeared in 1994.

Curious to know more, I had the chance to chat with Jayden and Sam to get the inside scoop on their characters, their experience working alongside TV legends like David Schwimmer and Ana Ortiz, and of course, their favorite moments from filming.

Starting with Cece, Jayden shared that she’s a determined and ambitious individual with big dreams and aspirations. She’s set on her path, but as the mysteries unfold, she undergoes a journey of self-discovery, finding out what truly matters to her and uncovering her true self. On the other hand, Sam described Devin as a character searching for his place in the world, who eventually finds his footing and grows through the challenges he faces.

Their on-screen chemistry as twins was so convincing that I had to ask how they achieved such authentic portrayals. Jayden explained that their sibling-like banter and connection clicked almost instantly, making it easier for them to embody their characters naturally. Sam added humorously that there was no magic formula, just good chemistry and getting to know each other beyond their roles as Cece and Devin.

When it came to working with David Schwimmer, both Jayden and Sam had nothing but praise for the “Friends” star. They described him as grounded, calming, generous, and collaborative, making the filming process smoother for everyone involved.
