Disney Hulu + Live TV and Fubo to Merge, Ending Venu Lawsuit
Exciting news! Disney’s Hulu + Live TV service and Fubo are joining forces to create one of the leading pay TV providers in the country. This surprise deal paves the way for the Venu Sports streaming service, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
Disney will take a 70% stake in Fubo as part of the agreement, with Fubo’s current management team continuing to run things. They are committed to combining the strengths of both Fubo and Hulu + Live TV to offer viewers more choices and flexibility. And with a whopping 6.2 million subscribers, they’ll be the second-largest streaming pay TV provider, just behind YouTube TV.
To smooth things out, Fubo will be dropping its lawsuit against Venu Sports, which is a joint effort between Disney, Fox Corp, and Warner Bros. Discovery – the parent company of CNN. The deal includes a payment of $220 million and a $145 million loan from Disney to Fubo.
The stock market is already buzzing, with Fubo shares skyrocketing over 200% in response to this news. This exciting development doesn’t impact the Hulu subscription service but will see Disney and Fubo working together on a new Sports & Broadcast service featuring Disney’s top sports and broadcast networks.
Rest assured, both Fubo and Hulu + Live TV will still be available to subscribers on their respective platforms. Hulu + Live TV will remain part of the Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ bundle, while Fubo will keep its app going strong.
The introduction of Venu Sports, priced at $42.99 per month, will open up a world of sports entertainment for cord-cutters. From the NFL and NBA to tennis, golf, and UFC matches, sports fans will have access to a variety of events from different media companies.
It’s been quite a journey, with Fubo’s previous lawsuit against Disney, Fox Corp, and Warner Bros. Discovery delaying the launch of Venu Sports. But now, with this new collaboration, the future looks bright for sports streaming enthusiasts. Stay tuned!
