Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin Partnering for Amazon’s NBA Studio Coverage
Retired NBA player Dirk Nowitzki is gearing up to team up with another former All-Star as Amazon steps into the world of covering the NBA next season. According to reports from The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Nowitzki will be joining forces with Blake Griffin and broadcaster Taylor Rooks for Amazon Prime Video’s studio coverage of the NBA. This exciting development comes as part of the NBA’s new 11-year media rights agreement signed in July with The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, and Amazon. Starting from the 2025-26 season and running through to the 2035-36 season, you can catch NBA games on ABC/ESPN, NBC/Peacock, and Prime Video.
In addition to Nowitzki and Griffin, Marchand also mentioned that Amazon has approached former Nowitzki rival and Basketball Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade for a potential role that could involve studio and game duties. This marks a shift in Nowitzki’s post-basketball career, which has been focused on philanthropy through the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation since his retirement in 2019. With 20 years of NBA experience under his belt, Nowitzki is expected to bring a wealth of perspective to the media space, following in the footsteps of other successful Hall of Famers who have made a career in the media.
Exciting times ahead for NBA fans looking forward to fresh faces and seasoned veterans bringing their insights to the coverage of the game we all love.
