6-Banner Sunday: Indiana improves to 11-3 with victories over Winthrop and Rutgers
Welcome to this week’s recap of Indiana basketball and athletics. Indiana had an impressive week with wins against Winthrop and Rutgers, improving their record to 11-3 overall. The women’s team also faced off against top-ranked UCLA, putting up a tough fight despite ultimately falling short.

First up, Indiana faced off against Rutgers as Big Ten play resumed. Despite Rutgers’ tough defense, Indiana secured an 84-74 victory with standout performances from Ace Bailey, Myles Rice, and Oumar Ballo.
In their non-conference finale, Indiana edged past Winthrop in a close game, winning 77-68. Rice once again led the team in scoring with 18 points.
The women’s team faced a challenging matchup against No. 1 UCLA, ultimately losing 73-62. However, Yarden Garzon’s 19 points and the team’s overall effort showcased their competitiveness.
Looking at tournament outlooks, the women’s team is in a better position than the men’s team, with notable wins and a higher NET ranking. The women are currently projected as an eight-seed in the latest Bracketology.
