It’s that time of year again—time to wrap up the 2024 Red Sox season! Let’s take a look back at the highs and lows of the year for our favorite team.

This season, the Red Sox finished with an 81-81 record, making them the only .500 team in MLB. This was just the fourth time in franchise history they achieved a .500 season, with the last one being in 1985. Their total adjusted payroll was $188.54 million, ranking 11th in the Majors. Despite not making it to the playoffs, the Red Sox still drew a solid crowd at Fenway Park, with paid attendance totaling 2,659,949 and an average of 32,839 fans per game.

The Red Sox had one of the younger offenses in the league, with an average age of 27.3. On the pitching side, they were a bit older, with an average age of 29.5. Despite having a high average runs scored per game (4.6), they also allowed 4.6 runs on average, resulting in a 0.0 run differential. Their games were on the longer side, lasting about 2 hours and 42 minutes on average.

On the field, the Red Sox were a force to be reckoned with in certain areas. For the sixth year in a row, they led MLB in doubles, as well as being in the top 10 for various offensive and defensive stats. Some standout players from the season included Jarren Duran, who led the Majors in doubles and had a strong performance in the All-Star Game. Tanner Houck emerged as a top pitcher for the team, earning his first All-Star honors.

Overall, the 2024 season had its ups and downs for the Red Sox. While they didn’t have a winning record, there were plenty of standout moments and performances from the team’s players. Here’s to hoping for an even better season next year!
