Sylvia L. Peacock, a beloved member of the Sinclairville community, passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on March 5, 1948, in Jamestown to her parents Donald and Gladys Newton. Sylvia graduated from Falconer Central School in 1965 and later obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in communications with honors from SUNY Fredonia.
Throughout her life, Sylvia balanced being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, along with various outside employment, including positions at Lake Shore Hospital and Job Corp. An animal lover, Sylvia adored caring for and riding horses and was actively involved in the Lou Eibl Corral. She was a Life Member of the Ellington Rod and Gun Club and had a passion for softball, both playing and coaching, as well as oil painting in her younger days.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ronald A. Peacock, whom she married on September 3, 1966. She was the loving mother of Ronald A. (Marsha) Jr. of Peoria, AZ, Steven (Susan) of Sinclairville, and Daniel (Lisa) of Irving. Sylvia was a cherished grandmother of six and a great-grandmother of four, with a fifth grandchild expected. She is also remembered by her sister Marie (late Greg) Walters of Tallahassee, FL, Eileen Newton of Silver Creek, and the late Donald L. Newton and Donna Zofchak, as well as nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life is being planned for a later date and arrangements are being handled by Jordan Funeral Home in Sinclairville. Condolences can be shared on their website. Our thoughts are with Sylvia’s family and friends during this difficult time.
