Paulina Chávez Discusses Representing Latinas in Landman
In the newest Taylor Sheridan series, Landman, a Latina character named Ariana, played by the talented actress Paulina Chávez, takes center stage as a conflicted widow navigating a world that often seems unjust.
Set in the bustling oil rigs of West Texas, LANDMAN is a contemporary story of seeking fortune in a world of roughnecks and wealthy players. Based on the popular podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series delves into the impact of a booming industry on our climate, economy, and geopolitics.
Paulina Chávez, a native of El Paso, Texas, born to parents from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, discovered her passion for acting in elementary school and pursued it through theater, commercials, and various film projects. Her previous work includes portraying a young Kim Kardashian in “Scandal Made Me Famous” and roles in Netflix’s “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia” and “Fate: The Winx Saga.” Look out for her in the upcoming film “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.”
I recently had the opportunity to chat with Paulina Chávez over Zoom about her involvement in Landman. She shared her excitement about working with a talented cast and the significance of representing a strong Latina character in the series.
Be sure to catch a new episode of Landman every Sunday on Paramount+ and follow Paulina Chávez on Instagram for more updates.
