Keynote Speaker Min Jin Lee at Unbound Book Festival: Author of ‘Pachinko’
The famous author of “Pachinko,” Min Jin Lee, is all set to headline this year’s Unbound Book Festival in Columbia. Unbound brings together great writers from all over to share their passion for words in various themes and genres. The upcoming festival, marking its 10th edition, will take place from April 17-20 in downtown Columbia.
Min Jin Lee, hailing from Seoul, South Korea, is known for her two impactful novels, “Free Food for Millionaires” in 2007 and “Pachinko” in 2017. “Pachinko” follows the journey of a family from Korea to Japan in the 20th century and has received critical acclaim, even being named one of the New York Times’ top books of the 21st century to date.
Aside from her success with “Pachinko,” Lee is also working on a third novel and a nonfiction project currently. Her writing has been praised for its ability to depict complex emotions with simple, relatable language.
Unbound Book Festival, founded by Alex George, has seen a lineup of prestigious keynote speakers over the years, including Salman Rushdie, Zadie Smith, and George Saunders. This year, the honor goes to Emily St. John Mandel, the author of “Station Eleven.”
