Wicked Streaming Debut on New Year’s Eve with Deleted and Extended Scenes

Get ready to experience the magic of “Wicked” from the comfort of your own home this New Year’s Eve! Universal Pictures has announced that the highly-anticipated film will be available to purchase or rent on December 31 on popular digital streaming platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV.

In addition to the movie itself, the streaming release will include a variety of bonus content to enhance your viewing experience. This will include a sing-along version of the film, behind-the-scenes featurettes, commentary from director Jon M. Chu, and stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Plus, there will be several deleted and extended scenes to give fans even more to enjoy.

One of the highlights of the bonus content is a 40-minute behind-the-scenes featurette that showcases the on-screen magic of the film. Viewers will also get a peek at the special effects that brought the breathtaking sets to life.

“Wicked” features a star-studded cast including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage, Marissa Bode, Jonathan Bailey from “Bridgerton,” and Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh. This epic nearly three-hour-long movie is the first part of a two-part adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical that delves into the events of the Land of Oz before Dorothy’s arrival.

Since its theatrical release on Nov. 22, “Wicked” has been a massive success, earning over US$580 million worldwide. It also had the third highest-grossing opening weekend of 2024, following “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Inside Out 2.”

The film has already garnered four Golden Globe nominations, including best motion picture – musical or comedy, as well as nods for lead and supporting acting performances by Erivo and Grande.
