Suspect arrested for murder in connection with house fire
A recent tragic incident in Colquitt County, Georgia, has left the community reeling. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has revealed that the five victims who died in a house fire were actually murdered before the blaze. The suspect, Jeffrey Alan Peacock, has been arrested and charged with murder. He is currently being held without bond in the Colquitt County Jail.
Peacock, who was reportedly acquainted with the deceased, allegedly shot all five victims and then set the structure on fire in an attempt to conceal the crime. GBI Special Agent in Charge Jamy Steinberg shared, “Peacock was a friend and fellow schoolmate of the deceased. He was actually at the scene the morning of the fire. We questioned him, and he stated he had seen the victims before they died.”
The victims, identified as Jordan Croft, Jonathan Edwards, Alicia Norman, Jones Pidcock, and Reid Williams, were found inside the home on Rossman Dairy Road. The investigation was launched when suspicions arose regarding the circumstances of the fire. The bodies were taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon for autopsies, which revealed that all five victims had suffered gunshot wounds.
Multiple agencies are involved in the ongoing investigation, including the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, GBI, State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, as well as local fire departments. Although a motive has not been determined yet, the investigation is continuing.
This heartbreaking incident has shaken the community, and our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
