Damon Wayans Jr. Discusses Appearance and Future of ‘Shrinking’ (Note: “Derrick” was removed as it was unclear what it referred to)

Season 2 of Apple TV+’s “Shrinking” has come to an end, and fans were thrilled to see Damon Wayans Jr. join the cast as Derrick, the charming friend of Ted McGinley’s Derek and the new love interest of Gaby, played by Jessica Williams. Throughout the season, every character couldn’t help but gush over Derrick, calling him the best-looking man they’d ever met.

Damon Wayans Jr. shared his thoughts on this overwhelming praise, saying, “I think they were doing it as a bit, but, you know, I’m thankful, I’ll take it. They had me in Sexiest Man Alive with the New Girl guys. So I’m like, ‘What’s happening?’ But I’ll take it.”

While Derrick received a confidence boost from his friends, he found himself at a crossroads with Gaby. She was hesitant to fully commit to their relationship due to the many challenges in her life, including being her mother’s primary caregiver. Despite his deep feelings for Gaby, Derrick respected her need for space to sort things out. As for what the future holds for their relationship, Damon Wayans Jr. shared, “The ball’s in Gaby’s court, whatever Gaby wants to do. That’s what’s going to happen. And he’s going to like her, love her regardless.”

With the uncertainty surrounding Derrick and Gaby’s relationship, fans are eager to know if Damon will return for season 3. Damon expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I would love to be a part of season 3,” leaving the decision in the hands of the show’s creators: Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel. So, we’ll have to wait and see if Derrick will make a comeback in the next season of “Shrinking.”
