Midseason TV Schedule: New and Returning Series on Streamers and Cable
The aftermath of the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes is now bygone, and streaming and cable platforms are preparing to launch a myriad of new and returning series through April. Here are some of the highlights to look forward to:
“Missing You” (Jan. 1, Netflix): Based on a Harlan Coben novel, this five-part series follows a detective (Rosalind Eleazar) whose missing fiancé suddenly appears on a dating app.
“Conspirators” (Jan. 2, ALLBLK): A suspenseful tale about a group of friends searching for the truth behind a friend’s shooting and disappearance.
“Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth” (Jan. 2, Peacock): Colin Firth stars in this series inspired by the true story of a father seeking justice for his daughter who perished in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.
“American Primeval” (Jan. 9, Netflix): Set during America’s westward expansion in 1857, this intense show portrays the harsh realities of the time amid cultural clashes.
“The Pitt” (Jan. 9, Max): A medical drama set in Pittsburgh featuring Noah Wyle.
“The Couple Next Door” (Jan 17, Starz): This series delves into the lives of new neighbors who become entangled in a complex relationship, with Sam Heughan playing a role.
“Prime Target” (Jan. 22, Apple TV+): An eight-episode thriller following a math postgrad caught up in a conspiracy.
“Whiskey on the Rocks” (Jan. 22, Hulu): A Swedish political satire inspired by a real-life incident involving a stranded submarine.
