Rare Surgical Procedure: Knell Inserted Into Peacock’s Broken Leg in Madhya Pradesh in 2 Hours
In a rare and remarkable medical feat in Madhya Pradesh, a vibrant blue peacock with a broken leg was given a second chance at walking. The entire event unfolded in Kripalpur village in the Satna district when Dasrath stumbled upon the injured bird near a forest just yards from his home. Writhing in agony on the roadside, the peacock was unable to move.
Another passerby named Surendra Choudhary tried to help the distressed bird take flight, but its broken leg kept it grounded. Concerned for the peacock’s well-being, the forest department’s sub-divisional officer, Lal Sudhakar Singh, was promptly notified.
Forest officials, under the direction of Narendra Payasi, intervened to rescue the peacock and discovered a fracture in its leg preventing it from flying. They swiftly transported the bird to the district veterinary hospital, where veterinary surgeon Brihaspati Bharti determined that surgery was essential for its recovery.
After undergoing a two-hour-long operation, a metallic pin was successfully implanted in the peacock’s broken leg, allowing it to heal and regain its mobility. Post-surgery, the veterinary team issued a fitness certificate, and the peacock was relocated to Mukundpur zoo, much to the relief and delight of all involved.
This incredible story highlights the dedication and expertise of the veterinary team at the Satna district hospital, demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding wildlife and preserving the well-being of our national bird. Let’s all join in and wish the peacock a long and healthy life ahead!
