NFL Christmas Day Games: Details on Netflix Games

Netflix, the popular streaming service, is gearing up for a Christmas Day NFL doubleheader. This exciting live coverage comes on the heels of the highly watched Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight on Nov. 15, which drew in a whopping 65 million households, despite some technical difficulties that affected certain viewers.

With a massive 282.3 million subscribers across 190 countries, only a fraction of Netflix users are expected to tune in for the games. However, even this smaller number could put some serious strain on Netflix’s streaming capabilities.

According to industry expert Dan Rayburn, Netflix sees this as a test for potentially more NFL games in the future. Originally planning to host the fight back in July, the company ended up pushing it to November to allow for more preparation time.

In response to questions from USA TODAY Sports, Netflix shared, “We now know from experience what are the main pressure points in our infrastructure and are promptly addressing them ahead of the NFL games.”

So, what can viewers expect on Christmas Day? The action kicks off with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers at 11 a.m. MT, followed by the Houston Texans welcoming the Baltimore Ravens at 2:30 p.m. MT.

This venture into NFL broadcasting is just the beginning for Netflix, as they have previously aired live sports events like a golf exhibition and a match between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal. Plus, they’ve even streamed unique shows like “The Roast of Tom Brady.”

Looking ahead, Netflix is making live sports a key part of their content strategy. In fact, they have already secured the rights to broadcast the Women’s World Cup in 2027 and 2031, according to USA Today.

Exciting things are happening over at Netflix, with more live sports and engaging content on the horizon. Keep an eye out for what they have in store next!
