Vince Guaraldi’s Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown Soundtrack Debuts

Lee Mendelson Film Productions is excited to announce the release of the complete Vince Guaraldi soundtrack for Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown, for the very first time. This timeless 13th animated Peanuts special, created by Charles Schulz, directed by Phil Roman, and produced by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson, originally aired on January 28th, 1975, on CBS-TV. It even received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Children’s program.

Now, you can stream this special on Apple TV+ and enjoy the music like never before. The album features the original 24 cues from the special, mixed into 22 tracks, most of which are available for the first time. You’ll also get eight bonus or alternative tracks that have never been heard before, making this 42-minute soundtrack the longest individual soundtrack released by LMFP to date.

Guaraldi infused the score with original mid-tempo tunes, classic favorites, and even a mambo, using a groundbreaking synthesizer called the ARP String Ensemble to give the music a unique string-laced sound.

Some standout tracks include the dynamic variations of “Heartburn Waltz,” the ballad-like sensibilities of “Jennie L.” and “There’s Been A Change,” the playful “Woodstock’s Mambo,” and even a cover of a Chopin piece for Snoopy’s pawpet show in the special.

The album, set to be released on January 17, 2025, will be available on various formats, including an exclusive variant on Heartburn Red vinyl for Record Store Day Indie Exclusive and Puppy Love Pink vinyl from Barnes and Noble.

All physical copies are eco-friendly, with the vinyl made from BioVinyl that saves CO2 compared to traditional vinyl and packaging made from renewable and sustainably sourced materials. The CD version is also made of recycled materials.

Additionally, the records and CDs will include liner notes providing a track-by-track analysis and insights from the producers, Sean Mendelson and Jason Mendelson, sons of Peanuts producer Lee Mendelson.
