Exploring Rifts on Lower Decks: Below Deck Insights – Star Trek
unity to celebrate how Lower Decks has woven in fun callbacks to other Star Trek series and films into its interstellar adventures.
Throughout this season, we’ve been treated to glimpses of alternate realities in episodes like “Kayshon, His Eyes Open,” “Wej Duj,” and the recent episode “Spy Humongous.” The show has also cleverly referenced the Terran Empire from the second-season TNG episode “Mirror, Mirror,” which has continued to pop up in various Star Trek series over the years.
And let’s not forget about the inter-dimensional rifts that have been causing chaos for the crew of the Cerritos, leading them to encounter familiar and new dimensions like “The Kobayashi Maru” and “No Small Parts,” as well as the Mirror Universe, and even an alternate reality featuring Captain Kirk and the Enterprise crew.
The finale episode “The New Next Generation” promises to serve up even more alternate realities and universes in that special Lower Decks style that fans have come to love. With five seasons of fun and a blend of humor and Star Trek ideals, this show has truly been a delight for fans old and new alike.
As we bid farewell to this chapter of the series, we can’t help but wonder if we’ll see the Cerritos and its crew back for more adventures in the future. After all, with the creative minds behind the Star Trek franchise, anything is possible.
A big thank you to Mike McMahan and the entire team behind Star Trek: Lower Decks for bringing us along on this wild ride. Until we meet again, live long and prosper!
