Amazon Prime Video Limits Multi-TV Usage With Device Cap
Amazon Prime Video has announced a change in its device policy for users in India, limiting the number of TVs that can stream content as part of their subscription. This change will go into effect in January 2025.
Under the updated policy, Prime members in India will be able to stream content on up to five devices, with a maximum of two of those being TVs. Users can manage their registered devices through the settings page of the app.
In addition to this change, Amazon Prime Video recently introduced ‘X-ray recaps,’ which are AI-powered textual summaries of TV shows, episodes, and parts of episodes. These recaps are generated using Amazon Bedrock, a part of Amazon Web Services, and enhance the viewing experience for users.
It’s worth noting that Amazon faced criticism in the US last year for allegedly using dark patterns to persuade users into subscribing to Amazon Prime. The Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint highlighting various design practices used by the company.
Overall, Amazon Prime Video continues to enhance its services and offerings to provide a better streaming experience for its users, while also ensuring transparency and user-friendly policies.
