Amazon Prime India Users: Amazon Ends Password Sharing
Amazon Prime users in India, we have some news for you! Starting in January 2025, Amazon is changing its rules on password sharing. Previously, you could be signed into up to 10 devices, including phones, laptops, tablets, and TVs. But now, the new limit will be five devices, with a max of two TVs.
In an official statement, Amazon explained, “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices.”
If you’re a current Prime member, don’t worry. Amazon is giving you a 30-day window to remove and replace up to two existing devices. This means you have time to adjust your devices if needed.
This change might be a disappointment to those paying Rs 1,499 annually for their Amazon Prime subscription, which includes not only Prime Video but also other perks like free deliveries and Amazon Music.
It seems like Amazon is following Netflix’s lead in cracking down on password sharing. Maybe this move will help them boost their subscriber numbers. Either way, Prime users, make sure to adjust your devices accordingly by January 2025!
