Amazon Prime Video Clean Slate Premiere Date Announcement and First Look Release
Amazon Prime Video has just announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated comedy series Clean Slate—mark your calendars for Thursday, February 6, 2025! You won’t want to miss this series starring the talented Laverne Cox and the legendary comedian George Wallace. Clean Slate will be available for streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The show follows Harry (played by Wallace), an old-school car wash owner in Alabama, whose estranged child, Desiree (played by Cox), makes a surprising return after 17 years—as a proud trans woman. As Harry comes to terms with this life-changing news, the duo embarks on a journey to rebuild their relationship, navigating the challenges and comedic moments that come with reconnecting. Clean Slate delves into themes of unconditional love, family, and identity, all while incorporating Norman Lear’s witty humor.
This series has been in the works since 2021, initially at IMDb TV before being greenlit by Prime Video in 2023, around Norman Lear’s 100th birthday. Created by Cox, Wallace, and Dan Ewen, with Ewen serving as executive producer and writer, Clean Slate is a passion project for all involved. The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, marking the end of a long journey to bring it to the screen.
Laverne Cox, a trailblazer as the first trans woman of color to have a leading role on a scripted series with Orange is the New Black, is not only a talented actress, but also a well-known advocate for transgender rights and visibility. Joining her is the veteran comedian George Wallace, bringing his comedic expertise to the role of Harry. Together, along with a talented cast including Telma Hopkins, D.K. Uzoukwu, Jay Wilkison, and Norah Murphy, they are set to deliver a show filled with heart and humor when Clean Slate premieres on February 6, 2025.
