The United States Men’s national team saw a significant increase in TV ratings in 2024, just like their attendance numbers. With an 87% rise in English-language TV viewership compared to the previous year, the USMNT averaged 1,128,364 viewers per game, marking their second-best average viewership in the last decade behind the 4,467,167 viewers in the World Cup year of 2022.

The USMNT’s game by game breakdown on English-language TV in 2024 showed that the most-watched games were the most crucial, with Copa America matches being the popular ones. Unfortunately, despite some setbacks in the Copa America, the US Soccer was boosted by the high viewership of the friendlies leading up to the tournament.

The hiring of Mauricio Pochettino as the new coach did not lead to a significant increase in ratings, with transparency lacking in viewership figures for some games. The US U-23MNT’s performance in the Olympics also garnered attention, with their advancement to the knockout rounds helping to keep US Soccer in the spotlight.

While some TV ratings figures were missing, 2024 proved to be one of the USMNT’s best years in terms of average viewership over the last decade. Heading into the 2026 World Cup preparations, the increasing TV ratings are a positive sign for the team.

Looking ahead, with the USMNT already having games lined up for 2025, fans are hopeful that the upward trend in both TV ratings and attendance will continue. With major soccer events being hosted in the US in the coming years, including the Gold Cup and the Club World Cup, the growth of the sport in the country looks promising. Exciting times are ahead for soccer enthusiasts as the sport gains more traction in the US.
