The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is bringing the beats of North Alabama to your fingertips with 50 new albums added to the Blast Music streaming platform. This latest batch of tunes, marking the sixth update since its launch in August 2021, includes a mix of returning favorites and fresh new artists, bringing the total collection to 209 artists and 230 albums.

Whether you’re into metal, Afrobeats, punk, or something in between, Blast has something for every music enthusiast out there. And the best part? You can stream these local sounds from anywhere with an internet connection, no library card or sign-in needed.

Blast is all about supporting its artists, ensuring they retain all rights to their music and providing a $300 honorarium for their contributions, thanks to the Marguerite Cartwright Hawthorne Endowment and the Huntsville Music Office.

Here are some of the exciting highlights from Blast Music in 2024:
– A feature in SPIN magazine in February
– Nine Blast artists showcased in the Hear To Be Seen art exhibition and performance at The Orion Amphitheater in September
– Huntsville Music Office board member and Blast artist Kim Tibbs hitting No. 1 on the U.K. Soul Chart in October
– Blast artists Kelly Abraham Joyner, Keyton, LUNA KOI, and The Wanda Band participating in the Huntsville Music Office’s Music Ambassador Program, spreading the word about Huntsville’s music scene nationwide.
