UD Arena: University of Dayton Men’s Basketball Upsets #6 Marquette
In an exciting game on Saturday, the University of Dayton men’s basketball team pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat Marquette 71-63. This victory extends the Flyers’ winning streak at home to an impressive 24 games.
Leading the charge for Dayton were Javon Bennett and Zed Key, each scoring 15 points. Bennett was especially deadly from beyond the arc, sinking 3 out of 4 attempts. Enoch Cheeks added 14 points to the scoreboard, while Nate Santos contributed 12 points and an impressive 13 rebounds. Malachi Smith also had a standout performance with a season-high 11 assists.
With this win, Dayton’s record for the season now stands at 9-2, while Marquette moves to 9-2 as well.
The first half of the game saw both teams battling fiercely, with Marquette taking a lead of 36-26 at halftime. However, Dayton came back strong in the second half, outscoring Marquette 45-27 to secure the victory.
