Malcolm in the Middle Revival Starring Original Cast Heading to Disney+
Ever since Disney+ launched in 2019, they’ve been bringing back classic Disney series, and now they’re turning their attention to reviving Fox properties. The latest news is that a revival of Malcolm in the Middle is in the works for the streaming service. The original cast, including Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek, will reprise their roles as Malcolm and his parents. Series creator Linwood Boomer is set to write all four new episodes, with Ken Kwapis directing. This revival will consist of just four episodes, with a storyline centering around Malcolm and his daughter getting caught up in the family chaos surrounding Hal and Lois’ 40th wedding anniversary party.
But what about Malcolm’s siblings? While it’s not officially confirmed, it’s likely that Christopher Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield, who played Francis and Reese, will also return. However, Erik Per Sullivan, who portrayed Dewey, is not expected to come back as he retired from acting over fifteen years ago. The original Malcolm in the Middle series ran from 2000 to 2006, with seven seasons and over 150 episodes. It was groundbreaking for popularizing the single-camera sitcom format, paving the way for shows like The Office and Modern Family. As for the new revival, there’s no set release date yet, but fans can probably expect it to premiere in 2025 to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary.
