Laurie Davidson from Paramount+ Show Shares ‘Near Death’ Experience on Vacation
Laurie Davidson, known for his role in the new Paramount+ drama The Road Trip, recently shared a harrowing experience from his own road trip. While on holiday in Costa Rica during filming, Laurie found himself driving on a scenic route that turned out to be a seasonal road for quad bikes. The road was narrow, with sheer drops, and at one point, Laurie had to open his door to ensure the wheels weren’t hanging off the edge of a cliff. Unable to turn around, the situation was tense, and Laurie admitted he was quite scared. He even joked about what would happen to The Road Trip if he didn’t make it back.
The new Paramount+ drama is an adaptation of Beth O’Leary’s popular novel, The Road Trip, which follows exes Addie and Dylan as they car-share on their way to a wedding. Laurie shared that the role of Dylan resonated with him personally, as he was going through a breakup himself at the time. The emotional connection to the character added depth to his performance, making it all the more impactful.
Filming for The Road Trip took place in Gran Canaria, where Laurie and his co-star Angus Imrie were known to frequent a local karaoke bar. Laurie fondly recalled singing duets with Angus, including a memorable moment where he performed as Freddie Mercury in drag. Fans can catch The Road Trip when it premieres on Paramount+ on Boxing Day.
