How to Manage Media Control Notifications with Google’s Help

If you want to control media on your Google streaming devices, devices that work with Google Cast, and Google Nest or Home speakers and displays from your Android device, you’ve come to the right place. To receive Cast media control notifications, make sure your mobile phone and your streaming device are linked to the same Google account. This way, you’ll get notifications for all streaming devices, speakers, and displays on the same Wi-Fi network.

It’s important to note that you won’t receive notifications when casting YouTube or YouTube Music content from your phone. So keep that in mind while streaming your favorite tunes.

For those wondering which mobile devices are supported, Android devices running Android 6.0 or later will do the trick. As for the supported Cast devices, you’ll receive Cast media control notifications when playing media using your streaming device, Google Nest or Home devices, and other devices that are compatible with Google Cast.

What can you expect to see on Cast media control notifications? You’ll see the device names of all connected devices currently casting on the same Wi-Fi network, the content provider, and media controls like Pause, Mute, Stop, and Settings.

If you ever need to temporarily dismiss a Cast media control notification during the current casting session, simply swipe it away on your phone. Just remember, the notification will reappear if you start casting content from a different Cast-enabled app.

To prevent others on your Wi-Fi network from controlling your media casting, you can turn off Cast media control notifications.
