Starlink integration improves live streaming for New York marathon
The New York City Marathon just got a high-tech upgrade thanks to the integration of Starlink technology by CP Communications. This partnership not only expanded their private wireless spectrum but also revolutionized the way live production and streaming were handled for the marathon’s app.
For the past decade, CP Communications and Red House Streaming have been involved in the TCS New York City Marathon, but this year they took things to a whole new level. Working closely with event producer FILM 45 and the New York Road Runners, they implemented a private LTE spectrum, upgraded their REMI site systems, and integrated Starlink for IP-based aerial coverage.
With Starlink in the mix, CP Communications was able to increase the event’s streaming capabilities to 48 outbound feeds from their HD-21 production truck. These feeds were distributed to various broadcast and streaming platforms, including WABC-TV in New York City, ESPN2, the TSC New York City Marathon App, and the NYRR’s social media channels.
This collaboration not only enhanced the viewing experience for marathon fans but also showcased the power of cutting-edge technology in live event production and streaming. It’s exciting to see how innovation continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of streaming entertainment.
