Princeton Holiday Food Events: Colonial Cuisine and Cookie Recipe
Princeton is embracing the holiday spirit with festive decorations and events for everyone to enjoy. Small World Coffee is getting into the holiday spirit early with their “Tiny Tim” drink, a peppermint-vanilla milk concoction that’s perfect for the season. Add a shot of espresso and it transforms into a “Scrooge” drink. They also have a Gingerbread Cream Cold Brew that’s a seasonal favorite.
If you’re a fan of ugly holiday sweaters, mark your calendar for the Ugly Holiday Sweater Party & Competition at Hopewell Valley Vineyards on Dec. 21. It’s a fun event with light food, wine, and competitions for the ugliest, funniest, and most festive sweaters.
Looking ahead to the new year, The Peacock Inn and the Perch at the Peacock are offering a special New Year’s Day brunch. Seatings start at 10 a.m. on Jan. 1 and cost $50 for adults and $25 for children. You can choose between a buffet or a la carte mains.
Patriots Week in Trenton, from Dec. 26-31, will feature various events including food celebrations inspired by Colonial times. One highlight is the Revolutionary Pub Crawl on Dec. 26, where participants can enjoy food and drinks at several local spots. Colonial garb is encouraged for those joining in on the fun. Author Michael C. Gabriele will also be hosting a talk on “Colonial Taverns of N.J.” on Dec. 27.
Tea lovers can partake in a “Revolutionary Tea” event on Dec. 27 at the Trenton Free Public Library. Certified tea specialists will share the history and rituals of traditional tea parties.
For a taste of Scotland, don’t miss “Hogmanay! A Scottish Celebration of the New Year!” on Dec. 28 at the 1719 William Trenton House. Bagpipers will play, hot cider will be served, and there will be a Colonial shortbread recipe to try.
And of course, no holiday season is complete without cookies. If you’re short on time but still want to bake, try this 5-in-1 master cookie recipe that includes jam cookies, spiced cookies, cut-out cookies, double chocolate cookies, and peanut butter cookies.
