Bernhard Wenger’s debut feature film “Peacock” will be featured at the Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) in Scotland from February 26 to March 9, 2025. This special focus on Austria at the festival will highlight Wenger’s film, which originally premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Starring Albrecht Schuch from “All Quiet On The Western Front,” the film follows a man involved in a friend-for-hire scheme who discovers he can’t escape his true self.

The GFF’s program “From The Heart of Europe: Austria on Screen” will also include the UK premiere of Christoph Schwarz’s mockumentary “Piggy Bank,” Josef Hader’s Berlinale comedy “Andrea Gets A Divorce,” “Veni Vidi Vici” from Juliane Niemann and Daniel Hoesel, and Ulrike Kofler’s family drama “Gina.” Additionally, films from Michael Haneke, including “The Piano Teacher,” will be screened.

In addition to these Austrian films, the festival will feature Laura Carreira’s social-realist drama “On Falling,” which premiered at Toronto and received the Silver Shell for director at San Sebastian. This will be part of the Screen Rising Star Scotland’s debut feature film.

Allison Gardner, the festival director who has been with the organization for 30 years, will be retiring after this edition of the festival. The announcement of her retirement was made last month, and the full program for GFF25 is set to be announced on January 21. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting festival lineup!
