Top Streaming Services Ranked: YouTube, Netflix, and More
In November, more Americans turned to streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu on their TVs than traditional broadcast or cable networks, according to Nielsen. Streaming accounted for a record-breaking 41.6% of TV usage, surpassing both broadcast and cable combined.
Overall TV viewing saw a 5% increase from October to November, driven by major events like the World Series, Netflix’s boxing match featuring Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, and coverage of the U.S. presidential election.
Among the top streaming platforms, Pluto TV, a free ad-supported service owned by Paramount Global, made up 0.9% of TV use in November. Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max followed with 1.1%, and Paramount Global’s Paramount+ with 1.3%.
NBCUniversal’s Peacock captured 1.5% of TV use, while Fox Corporation’s Tubi had 1.8%. Roku Channel and Disney+ tied at 1.9% each, with Disney+ featuring content from popular studios like Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel.
Hulu, also owned by Disney, led the pack with a 2.7% share of TV use, showcasing original series like “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Only Murders in the Building.” Amazon’s Prime Video followed with 3.7%, known for hits like “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “The Boys.”
Netflix came in second overall with 7.7% of TV use, boasting popular original series such as “Stranger Things” and “The Three-Body Problem.” Topping the charts was YouTube, accounting for nearly 10.8% of all TV use in November. Owned by Google’s parent company, Alphabet, the video-sharing platform continues to be a go-to destination for viewers across the country.
