“30,000 Kids Audition for Harry Potter TV Show”
Over 30,000 kids have lined up for the chance to star in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series! The production is set to kick off in summer 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, where all eight Harry Potter movies were filmed.
Unlike the original films, this TV series will feature a fresh new cast of young witches and wizards. Open auditions were held in September 2024, drawing in thousands of hopefuls vying for the iconic roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, famously portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.
Production company HBO Max has been sorting through a whopping 1,000 audition tapes per day, as eager young talents from all over the UK and Ireland vie for their shot at stardom. Rupert Grint, who famously landed the role of Ron Weasley in the films, got his start by auditioning after seeing a Newsround report about open casting calls.
To be eligible to try out, kids had to be between the ages of nine and 11 by April 2025. The TV series was officially announced by HBO Max in 2023, promising to capture the magic and wonder of JK Rowling’s beloved books, bringing a whole new generation of fans into the wizarding world that has captivated audiences for over 25 years.
With plans for seven series in total, each season of the show will adapt one of Rowling’s iconic Harry Potter books. While the cast of characters, including Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, and the sinister Voldemort, are yet to be unveiled, fans are already buzzing with excitement over the prospect of revisiting the enchanting world of Hogwarts on the small screen.
