Warner Bros streaming service Max set for early 2026 UK launch
Warner Bros has been making headlines with its Max streaming service, expected to arrive in the UK in early 2026. The service, which was HBO Max before its rebranding to Max, has already been a hit in the US since 2020. However, due to existing agreements and deals with other platforms, its UK launch has been delayed.
One of the main reasons for the delay is a longstanding deal between Warner Bros and Sky in the UK. Sky has been the home for popular HBO shows like Game Of Thrones and Succession, as well as Warner Bros movies. With the agreement being extended to run until early 2026, it’s clear that Warner Bros is gearing up for the launch of Max in the UK after that.
In a recent press release, Sky confirmed the extension of its deal with Warner Bros Discovery in the UK and Ireland. This extension allows Sky customers to continue enjoying shows like House of the Dragon and The White Lotus on its platform, along with access to new series airing before the end of 2025.
Interestingly, Sky customers will also have access to an ad-supported version of Max in their bundles at no additional cost, similar to the arrangement Sky has with Paramount’s Paramount+ service. Warner Bros UK President Andrew Georgiou expressed his excitement for Max’s arrival, promising new and exciting shows, including the highly anticipated future Harry Potter series from HBO, expected in 2027.
With the streaming landscape getting more competitive, UK audiences can soon look forward to choosing from a wide range of major studio services, including Max, to enjoy their favorite shows and movies. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches!
