USWNT to Host Brazil Twice in April: Double Matchup on Home Turf
the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams in the NFL, will mark the first women’s professional sporting event at the iconic venue, which will host eight matches at the 2026 World Cup.
These matches come hot on the heels of the 2024 Olympic gold medal game in Paris, where the USA emerged victorious against Brazil with a 1-0 win. Now, Brazil, currently ranked eighth in the world, will have a chance for redemption against the top-ranked USA team.
SoFi Stadium will not only host this historic showdown, but it will also debut a natural grass test system in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. This cutting-edge technology will be on display for the Men’s Concacaf Nations League Finals before staying for events like the USA vs. Brazil game on April 5, 2025.
The USWNT’s journey will then take them to PayPal Park in San Jose, a venue rich with history for the team. The Bay Area holds a special place for many current and former players, and it’s where the team played their first-ever California match back in 1997 at Spartan Stadium.
Excitement is building for these games, not only for the players but also for the fans. U.S. head coach Emma Hayes expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “To play the first-ever women’s professional match at SoFi Stadium is a great honor and one worthy of this team. We’re very much looking forward to spending this trip in California, which has produced so many great players and moments for the U.S. women’s national team.”
As the USWNT gears up to face Brazil twice in April, soccer fans around the country are eagerly anticipating these historic matchups at two prestigious venues.
