Top Golden Globe Nominations 2022: Netflix Receives High Recognition
The announcement of nominees for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards has officially kicked off Hollywood’s awards season! Netflix’s “Emilia Pérez” has made history with a whopping 10 nominations in motion picture categories, while FX’s “The Bear” stands out in television with five nominations.
Netflix dominated the TV categories with 23 nominations and the movie categories with 13 nominations. “Emilia Pérez” has broken records as the most nominated movie musical or comedy in Golden Globes history, surpassing past favorites like “Barbie” and “Cabaret.”
The French crime comedy “Emilia Pérez” follows the story of a drug cartel leader transitioning to a woman with the help of a lawyer. Its star, Karla Sofía Gascón, earned a best actress nod, and the film also received nominations for best director and screenplay.
In the movie categories, “The Brutalist” received seven nominations, followed by “Conclave” with six, and “Anora” and “The Substance” with five each. On the TV side, “The Bear” led with four nominations, closely followed by FX’s “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shogun.”
Major categories feature star-studded competition, with A-listers like Pamela Anderson and Angelina Jolie competing for best actress in a movie drama. Best actor nods in a movie drama include Adrien Brody and Daniel Craig among others.
For best TV drama series, “Shogun” and “The Day of the Jackal” are among the nominees. In the best TV musical or comedy series, familiar shows like “The Bear” and “Hacks” are in the running.
